Safety Driver

About the Role
We are seeking attentive, safety-focused drivers to support the testing and operation of advanced vehicle technologies. This role is ideal for individuals with strong driving skills, excellent situational awareness, and the ability to remain focused in dynamic driving environments.
As an Autonomous Vehicle Safety Driver, you will play a critical role in supporting vehicle testing, monitoring vehicle performance, collecting operational data, and helping ensure the highest safety standards are maintained at all times.
Available Schedules
- Tuesday – Saturday (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)
- Friday – Monday (10 hours per day, 40 hours per week)
AM Shift Options:
- 4:30 AM – 3:00 PM (Friday – Monday)
- 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM (Tuesday – Saturday)
- 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (Tuesday – Saturday)
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Tuesday – Saturday)
PM Shift Options:
- 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM (Friday – Monday)
- 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (Tuesday – Saturday)
- 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (Tuesday – Saturday)
Please note: New hires will begin on the shift for which they are hired. Most hires are placed on either the 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM shift or the 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM shift.
Responsibilities
- Operate vehicles safely and lawfully while collecting operational data
- Monitor vehicle performance and system behavior during testing
- Conduct daily vehicle readiness and safety inspections
- Interact professionally with riders, engineers, and operations teams
- Complete accurate reports and documentation
- Provide observations and feedback to support operational improvements
- Remain alert and distraction-free while operating vehicles
- Anticipate the actions of other drivers, pedestrians, and unexpected road conditions
- Support safe testing and deployment activities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years holding a valid U.S. driver's license
- Excellent driving record
- No DUI, drug-related, or alcohol-related driving offenses within the last 5 years
- Strong understanding of local traffic laws and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- High level of responsibility and professionalism
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and on different types of roads
- Ability to remain focused and alert for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of vehicle systems and controls
- Defensive driving training or certification
- Motorsport experience
- Experience working with advanced vehicle technologies
- Experience conducting vehicle inspections or safety checks
